Biography

Dr. George Kurian is a distinguished Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology with over 36 years of post-MD clinical, academic, and teaching experience in the field of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy (DVL). He is widely respected for his extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of skin, hair, and nail disorders, as well as his long standing contributions to medical education and dermatological practice.

Dr. Kurian completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Kottayam, followed by a Diploma in Dermatology and Venereology (DDVL/DVD) from Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangaluru. He subsequently earned his MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy (DVL) from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, laying the foundation for an illustrious career in clinical dermatology and academic medicine.

He began his professional career in the Kerala Government Health Services, where he gained valuable experience in providing comprehensive dermatological care. In 1997, he joined the Kerala Medical Education Service, dedicating the next two decades to patient care, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and academic leadership.

Dr. Kurian retired as a senior faculty member from Government Medical College, Kottayam, in May 2017, after a distinguished career in government medical education. In June 2017, he joined Travancore Medical College, Kollam, as Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology, where he continues to lead the department with a strong focus on clinical excellence, research, and medical education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kurian has remained committed to delivering evidence-based, ethical, and patient-centered dermatological care. He is known for his meticulous clinical approach, dedication to mentoring future dermatologists, and continuous pursuit of excellence in both clinical practice and academics.

A native of Changanassery, Dr. George Kurian continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of dermatology through his vast clinical experience, academic leadership, and unwavering commitment to improving skin health and patient care.
