IAP Kollam, in association with Travancore Medical College Hospital, successfully organised the Golden Window Project Workshop on “Neurodevelopmental Disorders: What Every Professional Should Know” on 14 June 2026 at Travancore Medical College Hospital, Kollam.
The workshop focused on the early identification, assessment, and management of neurodevelopmental disorders through expert sessions and interactive workstation-based learning. Key topics included developmental surveillance, autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulties, speech and language disorders, and ADHD.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 39 delegates representing various disciplines, including paediatrics, psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, developmental therapy, behavioural therapy, and special education. The hands-on training sessions, case discussions, and multidisciplinary approach were highly appreciated by the participants.
In observance of World Blood Donor Day, we successfully organised an in-house Voluntary Blood Donation Camp. As a healthcare institution dedicated to life-saving care, this initiative was launched to reinforce our blood bank reserves and highlight the critical need for safe, voluntary donations. The event saw commendable participation from our clinical staff, management teams, and community members. We extend our profound gratitude to all the selfless donors whose contributions directly strengthen our capacity to deliver timely, critical care and emergency procedures to patients in need.
Therapeutic Specific Exercise (TSE) – Chronic Pain Syndromes workshop was organised by the Department of Physiotherapy under the supervision of Dr Muhammed Favas (PT) on 14 June 2026 at the Travancore Medical College Auditorium. The workshop was conducted by the Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, Travancore Medicity, in association with the Academy of Physiotherapists International (AOPTI) and the Federation of Indian Manual Therapists. This workshop focused on advancing the understanding and clinical skills of physiotherapy practitioners in the assessment and exercise prescription for patients experiencing chronic pain. Key topics included exercise prescription for common musculoskeletal conditions and clinical exercise guidelines for achieving successful patient outcomes. The workshop attracted active involvement from physiotherapists representing Travancore Medicity and other institutions. Dr K. Pearlson (PT) served as the faculty member and principal resource person for the event.
In observance of World Environment Day on June 5th, a special commemorative event was organised at 11:00 AM in the Main Lobby, dedicated to the theme of environmental sustainability. The program featured inspiring addresses from the leadership team, emphasising the vital connection between a healthy environment and community well-being. Marking the occasion with concrete action, a tree plantation drive was held on the premises, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing nature and fostering a greener, healthier tomorrow.
Free Medical Camp and Cancer Awareness Session was successfully conducted on 19TH may 2026, at MNUP School, Nedumpaikulam. The event was jointly organised by the Nedumpaikulam Pourasamithy and Travancore Medicity.
As part of the camp, an insightful cancer awareness class was led by Dr Sameer S, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, Travancore Institute for Cancer Care. Many people from the locality attended the camp and received free expert medical consultations.

In observance of World Lupus Day, a vibrant awareness program was organised to spread education about this chronic autoimmune condition. The event kicked off with an energetic flash mob performed by our team in the hospital lobby, successfully drawing the attention of visitors and patients to the cause. Following the performance, Dr Aswin M. Nair (Department of Rheumatology) delivered an insightful speech, emphasising the crucial importance of early diagnosis, recognising symptoms, and the advanced treatment options available to help patients lead fulfilling lives. The program concluded successfully, reaffirming our commitment to community health and patient empowerment.
The Association of Otorhinolaryngologists of India, Kollam Chapter, in association with Travancore Medical College Hospital, successfully conducted the Kerala State Midterm AOICON 2026 Hands-on Workshop on Skin Prick Test and Bronchoscopy on 9th May 2026 at the hospital campus. The program was organised with the objective of enhancing clinical practice skills and promoting academic interaction among healthcare professionals, while fostering meaningful professional connections in an engaging learning environment.
In observance of International Nurses Day, we celebrated the incredible dedication and compassion of our nursing team. The day was marked by a special gathering to recognize their unwavering commitment to patient care. The Chief Nursing Officer was honored during the event, and we also recognized those who have completed over 15 years of service with us. These veterans are the pillars of our institution, and we are profoundly grateful for their decade-plus journey of excellence and the many lives they have touched. To our entire nursing staff: thank you for being the heart of our healthcare family.
In observance of World Hand Hygiene Day, the Hospital Infection Prevention Control (HIPC) Department conducted an extensive awareness campaign across all Wards, OPs, and ICUs. The initiative focused on empowering healthcare staff and caregivers with standardised hand hygiene protocols to effectively combat healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Complementing this bedside training, Dr Nirmal Babu, Consultant, Department of Infectious Diseases, led an insightful CME session on advanced infection control practices. Together, these efforts underscore our unwavering commitment to patient safety and the maintenance of a sterile, world-class healing environment.
