Biography

Dr Shijoy is an accomplished psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience, and currently serves as an associate professor of psychiatry at Travancore Medicity. He is widely respected for his ethical, patient -centered, and evidence -based approach to mental health care. He has received advanced, multidisciplinary training at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS ), Bengaluru, with specialised expertise in addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry and forensic psychiatry. He has further strengthened his clinical acumen through specialised certification courses in child &adolescent psychiatry, enabling the management of complex child and adolescent clinical cases. An advanced course in addiction psychiatry at NIMHANS equipped him with strong expertise in the evidence-based management of complex substance use dual diagnosis conditions. Extensive experience in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, child and adolescent psychiatric conditions, sexual disorders, and complex v also holds a fellowship in psychosexual medicine, which enables him to address complex psycho sexuall and relationship-related concerns with the highest standards of sensitivity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in interventional psychiatry, including ECT and ketamine therapy delivered in accordance with the highest standards of safety, ethics and clinical governance.
