Biography

Dr. Irshad Ahmad is a highly skilled General and Trauma Surgeon with over 11 years of overall surgical experience, including more than 8 years as a specialist surgeon in the management of complex trauma, polytrauma, and advanced general surgical conditions. He currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery and In-Charge, Trauma Surgery Department at Travancore Medical College Hospital, where he plays a key role in providing comprehensive trauma and emergency surgical care.

Dr. Irshad has extensive expertise in the management of critical trauma patients, including chest trauma, abdominal trauma, vascular injuries, extremity injuries, and polytrauma. He is highly experienced in damage control surgery, damage control orthopaedics, surgical critical care, and multidisciplinary trauma management, delivering timely, life-saving interventions for severely injured patients.

Prior to joining Travancore Medical College Hospital, Dr. Irshad served as a Consultant in General and Trauma Surgery at Paras Health, Srinagar, where he managed a broad spectrum of emergency surgical and trauma cases. He further refined his clinical and surgical expertise through advanced training at the prestigious Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), gaining extensive exposure to high-volume trauma centres and complex surgical emergencies.

As an academic surgeon, Dr. Irshad is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students while contributing to the development of trauma care protocols and evidence-based surgical practice. His commitment to continuous learning and clinical excellence enables him to deliver the highest standards of emergency and trauma care.
