As part of the World Kidney Day celebration, the Department of Nephrology organised a poster competition along with a special program at the Second Floor Auditorium. The event aimed to promote awareness about kidney health, early detection, and preventive care among the public and the healthcare community. The program was graced by the Honourable MLA, Sri. M. Rainbow 2026 – Heart of the Matter Paediatrics Cardiology Imaging  workshop was organized by the Department of Pediatrics on 22 February 2026 at Travancore Medicity under the IAP Kerala Presidential Action Plan. The workshop aimed to enhance awareness and knowledge in pediatric cardiac care through interactive sessions for healthcare professionals.Dr.Zulfikar Ahamed  consultant Cardiologist KIMS TRIVANDRUM and Dr. Jayakrishnan pediatrics cardiologist SAT TVM were the speakers.

On 16th February 2026, Kollam’s first Advanced Cath Lab with Neuro Intervention Facility was proudly inaugurated at Travancore Medical College Hospital. The prestigious inauguration was performed by the Honourable Mayor of Kollam Corporation, Sri. A. K. Hafeez. The inaugural ceremony was graced by our Honourable Chairman, Sri. A. A. Salam, Secretary, Sri. Abdul Salam, respected Directors, senior consultants, and management members, whose presence made the occasion truly momentous. This advanced facility is equipped to deliver cutting-edge cardiac and neuro interventions with enhanced precision, safety, and faster recovery—bringing world-class treatment closer to the people of Kollam.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), the premier association representing modern medicine doctors in India, made an official visit to Travancore Medical College Hospital. The delegation from the Indian Medical Association Kerala State Branch, led by State President Dr. M. N. Menon and State Secretary Dr. Roy R. Chandran, was accompanied by Kollam District office bearers Dr. Ramakrishnan S. and Dr. Biju Nelson. During the visit, the team held detailed discussions regarding the challenges faced by doctors in delivering patient care—issues that ultimately impact the quality and accessibility of healthcare for the general public.The program was followed by an engaging interactive session attended by nearly 110 consultants, including senior and junior doctors. On the occasion, Dr. Nazimudeen E., Dr. M. P. Radhakrishnan, and Dr. Judy Mary Kurian addressed the gathering, sharing their perspectives and reaffirming the institution’s commitment to ethical medical practice and collaborative professional growth.

In a heartwarming triumph of resilience, a surfing tragedy has been swiftly turned into a medical success story. Spanish national Diego Cabina Ferro, who was left immobile after a severe spinal injury at Kappil Beach, is walking again just two days after a complex six-hour endoscopic spine surgery led by Dr. Akhil Sunil. The expert team, including Dr. Devika and Dr. Babitha, reconstructed his spine through a tiny 1.5 cm incision. Kollam MP Shri N.K. Premachandran recently visited the hospital to inquire about Diego’s well-being and personally congratulated the medical team for their exceptional work.

The HIPC Department in association with IMAGE Palakkad, successfully conducted a training session on Biomedical Waste Management for all hospital staff and students from 15^th to 17^th January. The program focused on creating awareness about proper segregation, handling and disposal of biomedical waste, reinforcing safe practices and infection control standards within the hospital. The session witnessed active participation and served as a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
