In a heartwarming triumph of resilience, a surfing tragedy has been swiftly turned into a medical success story. Spanish national Diego Cabina Ferro, who was left immobile after a severe spinal injury at Kappil Beach, is walking again just two days after a complex six-hour endoscopic spine surgery led by Dr. Akhil Sunil. The expert team, including Dr. Devika and Dr. Babitha, reconstructed his spine through a tiny 1.5 cm incision. Kollam MP Shri N.K. Premachandran recently visited the hospital to inquire about Diego’s well-being and personally congratulated the medical team for their exceptional work.
The HIPC Department in association with IMAGE Palakkad, successfully conducted a training session on Biomedical Waste Management for all hospital staff and students from 15th to 17th January. The program focused on creating awareness about proper segregation, handling and disposal of biomedical waste, reinforcing safe practices and infection control standards within the hospital. The session witnessed active participation and served as a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
