Biography

Dr. Vinoo Balakrishnan is a highly experienced Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 37 years of expertise in women’s healthcare. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been committed to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care across the full spectrum of obstetrics and gynaecology, with a particular focus on advanced minimally invasive surgery.

After completing his postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Dr. Vinoo pursued advanced training at Cork University Hospital, Ireland, where he served as a Registrar for nine years. During this period, he gained extensive experience in modern obstetric and gynaecological practice and received specialized training in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) gynaecological surgery.

Dr. Vinoo is also an accredited Colposcopist, with expertise in the evaluation and management of cervical precancerous lesions and other lower genital tract disorders. His special clinical interests include operative gynaecological laparoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, and the management of complex benign gynaecological conditions, enabling patients to benefit from reduced postoperative pain, faster recovery, and improved surgical outcomes.

He currently serves as a Senior Consultant at Travancore Medical College Hospital and is also associated with KIMSHEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram, where he continues to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
